The zip in the new bags is awesome

Pretty much what it says in the title. I have some of the old bags with a standard one line zip, and it feels pretty weak (like the zips in the new Plenny Shake bags).
The new iteration is a velcro like zip that closes really easily and gives you a lot of sense of security. There is no doubting whether it's close or not.

I think it was described in the announcement as "strangely satisfying" to use. I was sceptical, but after trying it myself I have to agree, that description is spot-on​

I tested a few different labels and their locks, and I have to say I don't like the new velcro fastener as it is collecting the pulver. I also think that the old zip locks are not good as well, as they are as already said quite weak and not sealing well.
Huels zip lock is much stronger here and properly seals. I think you should try those as well.

I had a hunch to what you meant. I just wasn't quiet sure, because I would have used dust or powder. Should've checked with google.

I can see that being a problem. Let me check my bags. I just did and I do not have the not closing problem with mine. One of them is collecting pulver, as you said, but it closed fine. Do you store them flat or standing?

Oh yeah, my german origins, I kinda had in mind that "pulver" is english as well, but thinking about it of course I meant powder. Sorry for the confusion.

Currently I store them "long-term" flat in a drawer (more compact) and "short term" standing, but as all of the bags were flat lying in the carton box the powder distributed in the whole bag and all of the ones I have opened yet had this problem (in contrast to the old zip-locked ones which where by the way in the same box).

The Huel zip lock needs a little bit more "pressing-strength" than the queal zip-lock, but it doesn't feel bad as, as they have a "defined" (feelable) closed state in comparison to the queal zip-lock which in my experience don't always seal completely.

That is my experience, too. I've come few times and realized it wasn't properly closed. With the new ones I wasn't/haven't had that problem, that's why I was so delighted.

Thanks for sharing the info @phanaton. Personally, I just 'tap' the top of the pouch a bit when this happens and then the powder will fall down easily. Have you tried that already?

Yeah I currently just smash the still closed bag vertically on the ground to remove most of the powder in the velcro, and also tap the top of the pouch. and after some closing and opening most of the powder is gone.

Maybe I think to functional, but I just think that a zip lock similar to the one Huel uses is the most optimal solution, as I can fully reseal the bag (which is not possible with the velcro) plus I don't have the problems described here.
But that is just my opinion.

Another solution to this could be some slight 'sealing' beneath the fastener that can be ripped when opening the first time, which prevents the powder from touching the fastener.

I love the new zip lock bags! Powder does not stop from closing, unless you’ve reasly made a mess.

I have also discovered that using a countertop electronic scale with a ZERO feature is far more convenient than measuring with athe dreaded spoon.

1. Fill skaker with 350ml water.
2. Place on scale.
3. Press zero button (to zero out the scale)
4. Pour in 172 mg of Queal powder.

No measuring fuss.

I open my bags only about a third of the length, just enough to reach in with my fingers to open or close. This way I can make a shake without using any scoops, and the bag contents stays fresh for longer. I guess the velcro option is still easier to get to seal than the "single zipline". About once per month I get some powder stuck in the "ridge" where the zip line should close, with the result of not sealing 100%. I solve that by focusing on finishing off that bag quicker, which has worked so far.

I also have had problems closing the bags after opening them for the first time, but simply scraping the "velcro" with a metal spoon works perfectly fine to get all the powder out. And actually this problem is something that also happened with some of the ziplock bags and THOSE are far more difficult to clean the powder out of, so I see the current bags strictly as an improvement in this area.

Not really fussed too much with the current size, but if you move to bulk packs then think it needs to be an airtight seal.
