The shaker smells terrible after use

I just rinsed my shaker with water because I was in a hurry, but a few days later it got a very foul stench. Is it normal? I used dish cleaning product but the smell is still here. How can I remove it?
And in the future, how to clean the shaker after use to avoid this smell for sure?

I've had this happen as well.

I think the two main things are:

• Clean the shaker as soon as possible after use
• Leave the shaker open (lid off, or at least opened) when you let it dry

A good rinse with dishwasher fluid and hot water, then letting it dry while opened, should clean out the smell fairly quickly!

After having a meal, I just rinse the shaker parts with steaming hot and then cold water, wipe and dry it all with (paper) towel(s), assemble it and just leave the lid open. After 3 or 4 meals, which is about 3 days for me (basically one bag) I throw it in dishwasher. Still smells like new

this is pretty similar in most shakes to be fair. Protein shake shakers stink after any shake i've ever used
