Hey guys,
Thanks for taking a look at what's new with the WundrBars!
First run
As you probably know, we launched the WundrBars at the end of November.
We had a fair number of pre-orders/crowdfunding pledges to fulfill at that time.
In early December we started selling the WundrBar on our website for everybody to enjoy.
Unfortunately, we greatly underestimated the demand and sold out within two weeks.
Changes
Based on (mostly positive) customer feedback on the first run, we decided to implement several changes for the second and subsequent production runs.
From two layers to one
We really love the two-layered version. And the idea is definitely to get back to that eventually. However, there were two main reasons for (temporarily) dropping the two-layered aspect;
First and foremost, it speeds up production. This allows us to keep up with demand, and therefore never again have such a long waiting time. Speed and agility is something that we at Queal pride ourselves on, and we don't want to lose that.
Secondly, the WundrBars are a natural and hand-made product, and thus some minor variance is expected (just as no two croissants are identical). However, it seems the dual layer was creating too much of a window for variance, allowing for a noticeable deviation from the norm in the thickness/consistency of the separate layers.
So, for now, the WundrBars are single-layered, while we work out a fully mechanised layered production solution.
In essence, the two layers are now simply blended into one, so the nutritional values are still identical to before.
The consistency and texture are (in our opinion) slightly improved because of this.
This new version also reduces the crumbling that might've occurred in the first version.
White Chocolate Vanilla version
Both the Choco-Vanilla and the Choco-Hazelnut flavours got rave reviews. The main point of criticism seemed to be the similarity between the two. In both, the dark chocolate seemed to have the majority overtone. A bit more diversity was needed.
This is how the White Chocolate Vanilla flavour was born. I know my opinion is likely to be considered untrustworthy due to bias, but holy sh*t do I love the White Chocolate Vanilla! Not only is it an absolute revelation in tastiness, it still has the same nutritional value, and provides a nice difference from the Dark Chocolate Hazelnut flavour, which is pretty much identical to how it was before.
Near Future - New boxes
So far we've been shipping out the WundrBars boxed per 5 bars in sleek white 'post-boxes'. We still have a fair few of these in stock, so we'll keep using these for a little while longer. However, so far it seems people tend to order WundrBars in larger quantities. So we're going to be scaling up the boxes to hold 15 bars per 'display-box'.
Near Future - New packaging
As with the boxes, we have a fair number of bar packages still in stock. Once we run out, we'll update the design to reflect the White Chocolate in the Vanilla version, as well as tinker with the material thickness and/or dimensions of the bar-packaging.
Thank you
I must once again say thanks to our awesome customers for providing us with the excellent feedback and support, which allows us to keep on iteratively improving on our current and future products!
Kind regards,
Onno Smits - COO at Queal
