Shoveling five scoops into the shaker is error prone.
The volume that is in each scoop usually averages out somewhat below full for me (I don't stop to get the perfect filling, as I have stuff to do).
So I usually end up with leftover powder in my bag after making three shakes over the course of a week or so.
When I'm very tired (e.g. I didn't have my 'Morning Machhiato' or coffee yet) I might even miscount (five sometimes is a fairly high number, don't pretend that never happened to you!).
It also takes time and constrains you to either use a large shaker or deal with the inevitable mess (or be very careful, which takes even more time). It also makes it hard to make a meal on a bus/plane/car/train/boat or during an earthquake (ok, you might have slightly different concerns during an earthquake).
So to solve all these problems, I would like to have five scoops full of powder prepackaged in a smaller bag (out of plastic or cloth) in the main bag, that I could just rip open at a perforated side directly over the shaker.
The bag could be shaped like a hexagonal tea bag (as opposed to a pyramidal) with the perforation being at the 'top side', so that it spills less.
I know, that this sounds super decadent (oh no! more packaging! the environment!), but it wouldn't necessarily add that much more material to the whole product, since the small bags wouldn't be as large and thick as the outer package.
Or even better: Why not just sell a single serving in a smaller bag?
Is the 15 scoop Ultra-bag really solving a bigger problem, than it creates?
Imagine you had done that to begin with, would anybody yearn for an inconvenient triple bag, that you would have to use a scoop with?
Imagine advertising that:
Our new "bag 7.0" now with six bonus steps:
0. fill the bottle with water
1. find wherever you put your scoop (if that's never a problem for you, than you are better than I)
2. unseal your bag
3. open the bag
4. scoop 1
5....
....
9. scoop 5
10. close the bag
11. put the bag where you store your other bags
vs:
0. fill the shaker bottle with water
1. open and unseal your bag in one smooth motion (whoosh!)
2. angle the bag over the shaker bottle without much worry (since it's so small, you basically can't screw it up)
3. fill the shaker bottle with powder
4. gently tap it off to get the last crumbs
5. throw it away
For people who want to play with portion sizes, Smoothies, exotic Pizza recipes and juggle scoops, why not offer them a big plastic can of Queal, like is commonly done with Whey Protein?
And maybe throw in a huge quintuple spoon to make their life easy as well, when they want a standard size?
