Complete Food Survey 2018

Hi all,

From the 19th to the 30th of September we're running the Complete Food Survey 2018.
Together with some other companies in our space we're asking you what you love, hate, and do with Complete Foods.

The whole survey takes about 10 minutes to complete, but if you're low on time, all questions are optional.

Some questions that you can expect are:
- What flavour would you like your Complete Food to be in?
- Have you tracked your caloric intake in the last 6 months?
- What problem does Complete Food help you solve?
- Where do you (want to) see the Complete Food movement move towards?

First of, I must say that I am really glad someone (any company) is doing such a thing and publishing the results in such a digestible manner.

Now into the nitty gritty:

I feel like people should really care about this kind of things. Companies are willing to listen and as a customers we should do our best to raise our opinions and concerns. It is now that we have the most power.

Here are 7 reasons why I think this is important:

1. Now is the best time to have a say and shape the future. Meal replacement brands are looking for the perfect product, the best delivery method, the best way to serve you. Their survival currently depends on your satisfaction, because their market reach is limited and there is a lot of competition (mostly Europe). Now is when they are willing to listen, use it to your advantage.
2. Do you have any idea of how it could improve? Anything you dislike about the current market; shipping costs, overall cost, use of certain ingredients? Raise your voice and make it clear.
3. More information should also mean better products. Products evolved and optimized for the consumer needs.
4. Co-operation between brands should be encouraged to “normalize” complete foods and have them more easily available.
5. More interest also means more escrutiny and better regulations. We should care about scammy brands, badly researched products and potentially harmful shakes to ever making it to the market.
6. It would be a good document to show those who you are trying to convince to join the revolution.
7. You can earn €85/$100 worth of products for your hassle.

Yes, this will benefit the companies and should ideally be done by a external audit backed up by more companies (including Jimmyjoy, Soylent and Huel; which currently are out). However, if participation is high in Survey's like this it will hint the other companies about the willingness for neutral and unbiased audits of the market.

Happy to share my thoughts as it's still a relatively small industry and it's in my / every ones interest that it continues to meet customers needs and is around for the long term.

We're analysing the results and we already have gained some valuable insights. We will post the results on Friday!

ps Did you know that almost half of you have tracked your calories in the last 6 months.

Also use the very rough / ready approach to counting.

Certainly not motivated enough to count regular food via an app or similar - way too much work.

But when its so straightforward as counting the number of scoops - why wouldn't I!

I also dont weigh the powder (too much work again) I'm happy with the rough per scoop approach.

I assume that it'll tend to overestimate the calories consumed - never a bad thing.

Its a bit like setting your watch a few mins fast to stop yourself being late - shouldn't really help but strangely it does
