Changes to recipe? Bowel issues

Hi all,

Sorry to poop the party (literally) but since my last order of Queal Steady shakes I'm experiencing diarrhea, guaranteed, within an hour or two after consumption!

I'm pretty sure it comes from the shakes because I experienced it as soon as I tried the new batch of Steady shakes I got this week. The only thing that kept me off the toilet was not eating anything Queal for a day or two...

After that I began thinking, oh well, maybe it was something temporarily in the water I mix it with...but no, today I again tried some more 'Lovely Lemon Cheesecake' and I can assure you it didn't leave a healthy trace...

Something must have changed in your recipe, or some kind of bacteria slipped in your production pipeline...I don't know...

So far this week I have tried Super Strawberry, Banana Mania and this so called Lovely Lemon Cheesecake, they all give the same nasty result.

Queal use to be my favorite meal replacement (I have tried and tested at least 6 others) but this will have been my last order. I want to be able to eat even when there's no toilet around!

I'm sorry to hear you've had this experience.

We haven't changed the recipe recently, so that can't have been it.

We're also very dilligent about food safety in our production pipeline.
I highly doubt 'some kind of bacteria' is in the product.
A bacteria is unlikely to survive for long in the dry powder even if it was introduced.

The fact that you mention having the issue with multiple different flavours (batches) - and that we haven't had any reports from other customers - all point to a food safety issue not being the case.

However, I'm not discounting your experience of course.
Perhaps there has been a physiological change in you recently, your gut biome, digestion, whatever, that has caused this change in how your body handles Queal Steady.

If you contact our support we'd be more than happy to work on getting you a refund for any unopened bags of Queal you still have and want to return to us.

Are you sure you haven't changed the recipe recently? How long is recently?

Before March, due to anticipated brexit, I ordered a 3-month supply up front, just in case. I thus paused ordering for a while after brexit didn't happen, so just recently I've been consuming queal again from a recent order (last month). The flavour (of Vanilla Vegan) is distinctly different, and I too have noticed stomach problems on it. Its sort of... soapy... with a distinct unpleasant after taste. I still have some pre April batches, I tried some yesterday, great flavour, no issue. The packs show no change in ingredients or anything, and yet, I can easily tell the difference.

I'm a huge queal customer, I'm 100% on queal for all meals... but the new flavour is pretty disgusting, and makes my stomach not happy. I too am considering if I should stop and switch brand as I don't think I can stay on this new flavour/etc. Are you sure it hasn't changed?

I also do wonder if the recipe hadn't changed. I am a very intense and loyal consumer of Morning Macchiato (489 meals consumed and counting ) and have noticed a distinct change in taste a couple of moths ago. Not only taste, but also the consistency of the powder too. Are you guys sure nothing changed in the process?

Hi,

No particular change in my weekly diet compared to all the other times I ordered and consumed Queal Steady.
I never had this serious problem before with Queal.

I will return 5 unopened bags from my July 31 order #56794.
Too bad I can't find anybody brave enough to try what's left from the 3 already opened bags, for free. I wish somebody would try them and tell me their experience...

Please make sure you give this some more thought and time for other people to respond before you send the 5 bags to somebody else.
